TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team defeated the Omaha Mavericks, 87-78, for the second time this season on Thursday night inside the Mabee Center.
Hannah Cooper led all scorers for the second straight game with a 21-point outing tonight. Four other Golden Eagles reached double-digits as ORU launched a balanced offensive attack.
Taleyah Jones added 19 points,
Ruthie Udoumoh and
Emily Robinson chipped in with 13 each, and
Jalei Oglesby scored 12 off the bench.
The Golden Eagles got off to a quick start jumping out to an early 6-0 lead. Omaha climbed back, however, and took an 11-9 lead coming out of the first quarter media timeout. Both teams traded baskets until the Mavericks strung together a score, stop, and score to take a 17-13 lead by the end of the first.
Omaha extended its lead to seven points out of the break before Cooper cut into the gap with a wing three. The scoring remained even through the next several minutes until the Mavericks hit a three out of the media timeout to go up by eight. Robinson helped keep the Golden Eagles afloat knocking down three three point attempts over the last 4:00 minutes of the quarter. The score was knotted 35-35 at the half.
The score remained tight throughout the entirety of the third quarter. Udoumoh recorded her 12th double-double of the season in the opening minutes after converting on a post touch in the paint. The Golden Eagles claimed their first lead of the game since the opening minutes after another Udoumoh layup forced a UNO timeout. The score stayed within four points over the closing minutes of the third quarter as ORU went into the fourth up 61-60.
The Golden Eagles seized control of the game in the first couple of minutes in the fourth quarter. ORU put together a 10-0 run between 7:55 and 3:54 minute mark. Cooper and company remained calm and collected closing out the final 10 minutes of play. The Golden Eagles kept the Mavericks at bay and claimed an 87-78 victory at home.

Oral Roberts: Hannah Cooper scored a game-high 21 points and added three assists. Udoumoh controlled the glass with 13 rebounds enroute to her League-leading 12th double-double.
