TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball team overcame an early two-run deficit to take game one of their weekend series against SIUE

The Cougars would get on the board first courtesy of a two-run homer to left center field. However, the Golden Eagles would respond in the bottom of the second as David Herring would place a well-hit ball down the right field line for an RBI double.

ORU's offense would erupt in the bottom of the fourth inning as Sam Thompson kickstarted the Golden Eagles' rally with a fielder's choice to tie the game. Easton Elliot would then give the Golden Eagles the lead off an RBI single.Then Elijah Rodrguez and Holden Breeze would drive in three more runs to give ORU a 6-2 lead.

Another SIUE homer would cut the lead to three but Kyle Booker and Drew Stahl would score 5th and 7th respective RBI's to increase the buffer between the Cougars.

Jakob Hall would remain poised after giving two runs in the opening inning and give his squad some much needed distance from their starting pitching as he would collect seven strikeouts in seven innings of work.

After another home run by SIUE in the top of the seventh, ORU would give their bullpen some insurance as they scored two runs in the bottom of the frame off an error and a sacrifice-fly.

The Cougars would claw their way back into the game cutting the home team's lead to four and would get the tying run in the on deck circle in the top of the ninth. However Dalton Patten would emerge from the bullpen and shut down all hopes of any sort of comeback giving the Golden Eagles a 10-6 win.
