TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball team was firing on all cylinders as they clinched their first series win of 2024.
Brooks Fowler would take the mound for the Golden Eagles and give ORU their best outing from a starting pitcher this season. The junior from Jenks would take a no-hit bid into the fifth inning en route to a six inning and six strikeout appearance.
On offense, Kyle Booker would get ORU on the board first with a two-RBI single to right center field.Â
After SIUE tied the game in the fifth inning, the Golden Eagles would give their starter more than enough run support as they would respond with six runs capped off by a Ryan Blackwell grand slam.
The home team would tack on another run as Holden Breeze would drive in Alex Rodgers to extend the lead to seven.Â
The Cougars attempted to claw their way back as they would cut the lead to six, but Blackwell's fifth RBI of the night and an error by SIUE's shortstop would create an 11-3 score that would hold to the very end.
With the win, the Golden Eagles are now one win away from their first sweep of the season and getting back to a winning record.
