LAWRENCE, Kan. – Sophomore guard Anna Trusty posted a season-best 26 points as the Oral Roberts women's basketball team fell 86-75 at Kansas on Sunday.
Trusty added seven rebounds and three assists to her 26-point performance to lead the Golden Eagles. Also scoring in double figures were Gentry Baldwin with 14 points and Jalei Oglesby, who recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Kayten Donley contributed six points, three steals, and five blocks.
The ORU offense found a rhythm from beyond the arc, knocking down eight threes on 24 attempts. Baldwin stood out from deep, connecting on 4-of-6 triples.
The Golden Eagles got off to a slow start and trailed 25-14 at the end of the first quarter. KU extended its lead to 35-20 in the second before a 12-0 ORU run cut the deficit to 35-32. Kansas answered, pushing the margin to 42-34, but a long-range jumper from Baldwin with 12 seconds remaining sent ORU into halftime down just five, 42-37.
Kansas regained control in the third quarter, outscoring ORU to take a 71-53 lead into the fourth. Oral Roberts was effective inside during the period, scoring 14 of its 16 points in the paint.
The Golden Eagles trimmed KU's lead to 84-68 before a 7-0 run made it a 84-75 game with 1:44 remaining. Kansas held off the late surge, closing out the contest 86-75. ORU capitalized on seven Jayhawk turnovers in the final quarter, converting them into seven points.
The Leaders
Oral Roberts: Anna Trusty led ORU with 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Jalei Oglesby grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds, while Kayten Donley posted game-best marks of five blocks and three steals.
Kansas: S'Mya Nichols led the Jayhawks with 15 points and five assists, shooting 3-of-7 from the field and 8-of-10 at the free-throw line.
