FORT MYERS, Fla. – The ORU men's basketball program kicked off its GEICO Coconut Hoops campaign, falling to the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, 93-88.
 
The Golden Eagles had four players reach the 15-point mark, led by Ty Harper, who had 20 points, five assists and two steals. Jack Turner added 18 points, Connor Dow had 17 points and Ofri Naveh finished with 15 points.
 
After falling behind 15-11, Oral Roberts went on a 10-0 run with 11:50 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Harper, to take a 21-15 lead. The Golden Eagles gave up the lead and entered halftime down just two, 41-39. The Golden Eagles narrowed their deficit to 52-51 before going on an 8-0 run, to gain a 59-52 lead with 14:14 to go in the contest. FGCU took back the lead, outscoring the Golden Eagles 41-29 the rest of the way to hand ORU the 93-88 loss.
