FORT MYERS, Fla. – The ORU men's basketball program couldn't keep up with a red-hot Rice offense, closing out its GEICO Coconut Hoops campaign with 81-62 loss to the Owls.
 
The Golden Eagles had three players score in double figures, led by Connor Dow, who had 19 points and two steals. Ty Harper tacked on 12 points and Luke Gray chipped in with 11 points off the bench.
 
The Golden Eagles struggled out of the gate, shooting 35.3 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from deep compared to Rice's 46.9 percent from the field and 63.6 percent from beyond the arc in the half. Oral Roberts fell behind 44-32 heading into halftime. Rice kept widening its lead after the break, constructing a 64-46 advantage before Oral Roberts went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Harper's layup, to shrink the deficit to 64-51 with 8:48 to go in the game. Rice responded and outscored the Golden Eagles the rest of the way as ORU fell 81-62.
