TULSA, OK – With four Golden Eagles scoring in double figures, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season following a 92-50 victory over Haskell on Thursday evening.
Senior guard Jalei Oglesby led the way with 23 points and eight rebounds, shooting 10-of-14 from the field. Anna Trusty followed with 18 points, eight rebounds, and a block. Freshman A'Maya Holton was just one rebound shy of a double-double, contributing 11 points and a team-high nine boards, while Gentry Baldwin added 10 points, three assists, and two steals.
After jumping out to a 19-14 advantage, Oral Roberts went on a 5-0 run with 2:36 left in the first quarter, capped by a three-pointer from Preslee Hartsock, to extend the lead to 24-14, a margin that held for the remainder of the period. The Golden Eagles did most of their early damage in the paint, scoring 16 of their 24 first-quarter points near the basket.
The Golden Eagles maintained their momentum in the second quarter, opening with a 5-0 run starting at the 8:57 mark, highlighted by an Oglesby layup, to push the lead to 31-16. Haskell trimmed the deficit, but ORU still took a 44-31 advantage into halftime after another strong period in the paint, where 16 of their 20 points came close to the rim.
ORU continued to roll in the third quarter, stretching the lead to 52-35 before another 5-0 spurt, punctuated by a basket from Taylor Jackson, made it 57-35 with 3:23 remaining in the frame. Haskell managed a brief rally, but the Golden Eagles still entered the final quarter ahead 58-44.
Oral Roberts dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring Haskell 34-6. The Golden Eagles reached 67-46 before unleashing a 22-0 run, capped by a Hartsock layup, to extend the margin to 89-46 with just over two minutes remaining. The Fighting Indians added a few late points, but ORU cruised to a 92-50 win.
