BROOKINGS, S.D. – ORU fell at the hands of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, 89-71 on Saturday afternoon.

Taleyah Jones and
Emily Robinson each scored 21 points in the matchup, with Robinson shooting almost perfect from the field (8-9) while tying her career-high in points. Jones led the Golden Eagles in assists (4), shooting 7-18 from the field.
Ruthie Udoumoh was ORU's third-leading scorer with 12 while also grabbing five rebounds and four steals.
Jalei Oglesby led ORU in rebounds, bringing in seven.

The Golden Eagles came out scorching hot as
Taleyah Jones hit a three followed by two
Makyra Tramble triples, giving ORU a 9-0 lead (9:02).
Emily Robinson made her second three of the game with 3:10 left in the first before
Ruthie Udoumoh sunk a pair of free throws. Five rebounds from Oglesby gave the Golden Eagles some extra possessions while
Emily Robinson shot a perfect 4-4 from the field and 2-2 from beyond the arc as ORU jumped out to a 24-14 first-quarter lead.
ORU hit a blockage in quarter two, despite
Taleyah Jones scoring eight of their 11 second-quarter points. The Jackrabbits seemed to shake off the dust, shooting a whopping 61.5% (8-13) from the field and 3-5 (60%) from three in the quarter. SDSU held a 35-38 lead heading into the half after outscoring the Golden Eagles 11-24 in the second.

From 7:41 to 5:58 in the third, SDSU hit three straight threes while
Taleyah Jones tried to limit the damage, knocking down a jumper (41-52). With 3:48 to go,
Jalei Oglesby made a big and one layup to give the Golden Eagles some momentum. In the final 2:18 of the quarter, the Golden Eagles and Jackrabbits traded baskets with SDSU, trailing 54-62 heading into the fourth.

An 8-3 run by the Jackrabbits thwarted ORU's late comeback efforts, falling into an 11-point hole with 8:07 to play. ORU continued to fall behind as SDSU hit two more threes to increase their lead to 17.
Ruthie Udoumoh and
Emily Robinson each scored five points in the fourth, shooting 2-3 from the field, but it wasn't enough for ORU to make a comeback.
