NORMAN, OKLA./FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. – Sophomore
Jordan Wenger re-wrote the record books last weekend with his performance on the high jump setting a new ORU program record.
He clocked in at 2.18M finishing second overall at the Owen Hewitt Invite hosted by the Oklahoma Sooners. The previous high jump record as held by Demarcus Bass who set it at 2.15M at the Mizzou Invitational on Jan. 13
th, 2006. Wenger now ranks 5th in the country in the high jump event.
Kellen Rutledge and
Jamin Andrews put up proficient scores in the high jump, Rutledge at 2.04M, and Andrews putting together a new personal record at 1.99M. Another standout performance from Norman includes
Evan Allerkamp on the triple jump going 13.52M, a new personal record.
At the Arkansas invite,
Artwell Magake and
Ishmael Acheampong placed top 10 in the men's 1 mile,
Sibonokuhle Thwala placed 12
th in the men's 3000M,
Madeline Cabana finished 9th in the women's 3000M, and
Deborah Mazzei finished top 10 in the 800M.
The Golden Eagles will be back in competition on Jan. 30
th, as they head to the Washburn Open in Topeka, Kansas.
