DENVER, Colo. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team moved to 4-3 in Summit League play after falling 86-74 at Denver on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles had three players score in double figures, led by Jalei Oglesby's 18 points. Kayten Donley tacked on 13 points, six rebounds, and four steals, while Gentry Baldwin ended the day with 11 points.
Oral Roberts did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 16 boards that resulted in 18 second-chance points.
ORU forced 19 Denver turnovers while committing just eight themselves. The Golden Eagles turned those takeaways into 24 points on the offensive end of the floor, with Donley's four steals leading the way.
Oral Roberts struggled out of the gate, falling behind 21-16 at the end of the first quarter.
Denver continued to build a 36-24 advantage in the second before Oral Roberts went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Azailah Funches, to narrow the deficit to 36-31. Denver responded by expanding its lead, leaving the Golden Eagles trailing 42-35 heading into halftime. Oglesby reached double figures in the second period, shooting 5-of-6 from the floor.
ORU cut its deficit to 45-39 before going on a 5-0 run, sparked by a three from Anna Trusty and a basket by Donley, to trim the margin to 45-44 with 7:24 to go in the third quarter. Ari Gordon leveled the score at 46 with a second-chance pull-up jumper. Denver countered and stretched its lead to 57-53 heading into the fourth. Oral Roberts played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 18 points in the paint during the period.
Denver continued to widen its lead in the fourth, building an 84-69 advantage before Oral Roberts went on a 5-0 run, capped by Baldwin's layup, to shrink the deficit to 84-74 with 13 seconds remaining. After free throws, the Pioneers closed out the game with an 86-74 victory. Oral Roberts took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 14 of its 21 fourth-quarter points in the paint.

Oral Roberts: Jalei Oglesby paced the Golden Eagles with 18 points, shooting 9-of-18 from the floor. Kayten Donley added a team-high six rebounds and four steals.
Denver: Coryn Watts led the Pioneers with 31 points on 10-of-22 shooting. Jocelyn Medina recorded a double-double with 16 points and a game-best 13 rebounds.
