VERMILLION, S.D. – Despite
Ty Harper's career-high 23 points, the Golden Eagles couldn't outlast the Coyotes second half spark, falling 77-69 in Vermillion.
The Golden Eagles had three players reach double figures, led by Harper, who tallied a career-high 23 points.
Ofri Naveh added 17 points and seven rebounds while
Connor Dow fell just short of a double-double, racking up 10 points and nine rebounds.
After falling behind 12-7, ORU went on a 7-0 run with 13:48 left in the first half, sparked by a triple from Harper, to take a 14-12 lead. The Golden Eagles added four points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 37-31 advantage. Out of the break South Dakota came out hot and proceeded to take a 70-58 lead before Oral Roberts clapped back with a 7-0 run to shrink the deficit to 70-65 with 1:15 to play. The Coyotes responded and outscored the Golden Eagles the rest of the way, as ORU fell 77-69.
