TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts baseball team opened the 2026 season at home on Friday afternoon, falling to Southern Illinois, 4-2. The series will continue Saturday at 2 p.m.

Easton Teel (0-1) took the loss, while
Kash Ferris came out of the bullpen to pitch the final 1.2 innings, allowing just one hit. ORU's pitching staff recorded four strikeouts on the day, two apiece from Teel and
Weston Rouse.
The Salukis opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first.
Martell Davis delivered a two-RBI single to left in the bottom of the second to give the Golden Eagles a 2-1 advantage. SIU responded quickly, leveling the score with a solo home run in the third before taking a 3-2 lead with another solo homer in the fourth.
SIU put a runner in scoring position with one out in the seventh, but after a fly ball to center,
Makani Tanaka fired a throw home to complete the double play, ending the inning and keeping it a one-run game.
The Salukis added an insurance run with a homer in the eighth, ending the day 4-2.
Andrew Evans (1-0) earned the win after throwing 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
