TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts baseball team notched its first win of the season, blanking the Salukis in game two of the series, 1-0. The rubber match is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 15..
 
Nathan Love started on the mound for Oral Roberts, going five shutout innings while giving up three hits, walking three, and striking out four. Jack Hill was awarded the win after entering in the sixth, throwing two innings without allowing a run or hit and walking one. Maddox Thornton earned the save, closing for the Golden Eagles and allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out two.
 
The game went scoreless through the first five innings, with ORU recording just one hit– a single by Cooper Combs in the fourth– while SIU had three hits over the first five innings, two singles in the second and one in the fifth.
 
The lone run came in the sixth as Combs drew a walk, moved to third on a double by Makani Tanaka, and scored on a Keaton Campbell groundout.


 
SIU put two on in the eighth with a single and an error, with both runners advancing to third as Hudson Ellis prevented a bases-loading single. After another Saluki reached base, Thornton struck out the final batter to maintain the Golden Eagles' 1-0 advantage.

 
Shepard was charged with the loss after throwing three innings, allowing the lone run and one hit while walking two and striking out one. Starting pitcher Maede Johnson threw five innings, allowing one hit while walking three and striking out two, with one wild pitch.
