TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts baseball team fell in game two at Abilene Christian, 12-3. Two of ORU's runs came on solo home runs by seniors
Cooper Combs and
Makani Tanaka.
Nathan Love (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Oral Roberts.
Keaton Ruthardt was a bright spot out of the bullpen, throwing the final two innings and surrendering one run on one hit while walking none and striking out four.
At the plate, the Golden Eagles were led by Tanaka, who went 1-for-2 with a home run and a walk. Combs followed, going 1-for-3 with a homer of his own.
The Golden Eagles trailed 7-0 in the fourth inning when Tanaka put ORU on the board with a solo home run.
The Wildcats expanded their lead to 10-1 before Combs added another Golden Eagle homer.
Both teams added a run in the eighth inning. The Golden Eagles scored on a
Keaton Campbell single to right field that drove in
Wailele Kane-Yates, who had reached on a hit-by-pitch. Kane-Yates advanced to second on a passed ball and to third after
Cooper Kelly was walked and Tanaka was hit by a pitch.
ACU starter Aiden Coleman earned the win after throwing five innings, allowing two runs on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
