TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts baseball team secured the series win over South Dakota State, 3-1, after being tied 1-1 for five innings.
The Golden Eagles were first on the board as
Cooper Combs scored when Davis reached on an error in the bottom of the first.
SDSU leveled the score with an RBI double in the third. The score remained 1-1 until the bottom of the eighth, with each team putting a player on base just six times over the five-inning stretch.
The Golden Eagles added the final runs of the day with two in the bottom of the eighth.
Tyler Brodrick drew a walk before moving to second on a
Matthew Mainord hit-by-pitch.
Will Edmunson entered to pinch hit and lined a single up the middle to score Brodrick and advance Mainord to third. Mainord was driven in on an RBI sacrifice bunt by
Hudson Ellis, giving ORU a two-run advantage heading into the ninth.

Kash Ferris earned his first career save, entering to throw the final inning and striking out three batters with two runners on base.
Jackson Farrell (1-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Oral Roberts. The left-hander went 2.1 shutout innings while giving up one hit, allowing one walk and striking out two.
Nathan Love also made an impact on the mound for the Golden Eagles, starting the ballgame and throwing 5.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Austin Henry was charged with the loss after allowing the go-ahead run in the eighth. Henry threw 1.2 innings, allowing one run on no hits with two walks and one strikeout.
