TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts baseball team was unable to secure the series sweep over Arkansas State, falling 7-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Oral Roberts recorded six hits on the day, with one apiece from
Martell Davis,
Will Edmunson,
Hudson Ellis,
Ethan Fender,
Cooper Kelly, and
Matthew Mainord. Mainord had the Golden Eagles' only extra-base hit of the day with a double in the second inning.
Conner Johnson (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Oral Roberts (7-8).
Braydon Sanford was a highlight out of the bullpen for ORU, throwing the final 2.2 innings while striking out five and walking none.
Arkansas State opened the scoring in the first with a two-run homer to right field. The game remained 2-0 until the sixth, when the Red Wolves added an RBI walk before extending the lead to five runs in the seventh, scoring on a double and an error. A-State capped the scoring in the eighth with a two-RBI single up the middle.
Dylan Farley started on the mound for the Red Wolves, throwing four innings while allowing five hits, walking three, and striking out one. Tyler Weimer was awarded the win, throwing five shutout innings and allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out four.
