OMAHA, Nebraska – After an undefeated 11-0 start in Summit League play, the Oral Roberts baseball team fell short to Omaha, 8-7, in 12 innings Sunday afternoon.

Will Edmunson opened the day with a first-pitch home run into center field.

The Mavericks responded with an RBI single, tying the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the frame.

Oral Roberts regained the advantage with a two-run third inning, sparked by a Hudson Ellis double to left-center. Ellis advanced to third on a single by Makani Tanaka before scoring on an RBI single by Wailele Kane-Yates. Tanaka, who advanced to third on the Kane-Yates hit, later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Cooper Combs, giving the Golden Eagles a 3-1 lead.

Omaha took a 5-3 advantage in the fifth with back-to-back home runs, including a three-run shot.

The game remained scoreless through the sixth and seventh innings, but the Golden Eagles reclaimed the lead in the eighth. ORU loaded the bases on singles from Kane-Yates and Davis, along with a walk by Combs. Kole Dudding singled to left to score Kane-Yates, while pinch hitter Owen Coil drew a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to even the score at 5-5. A sacrifice fly by Ellis brought home Davis, giving ORU a 6-5 advantage.

Omaha tied the game in the bottom of the inning, scoring on a wild pitch.

Both teams placed runners in scoring position in the ninth, but Kash Ferris kept the game alive, ending the inning with a swinging strikeout to send it into extras.

ORU put three on in the 12th, beginning with a Cooper Kelly double to left. Kelly advanced to third on a Davis single before Dudding was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ellis then drew a bases-loaded walk, giving ORU a 7-6 advantage.

The Mavericks answered with a game-tying home run in the bottom of the inning, followed by a walk-off home run to center to end the game.

Reliever Luke Williams was charged with the loss after entering in the 11th, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two batters over 1.1 innings on the mound.

Brayden Curtis (2-2) earned the win, recording the final out of the top of the 12th.
