SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Oral Roberts outfielder
Will Edmunson earned the latest Kwik Star Summit League Baseball weekly honor, being named the peak performer, League officials announced Tuesday. Alongside him is Omaha righthander Maddox Meyer. Edmunson is the fourth different Golden Eagle to claim the peak performer honor this season, while Meyer earned his second pitching honor of the season.
Edmunson helped ORU post its fourth sweep in five Summit League series as the Golden Eagles took all three games from South Dakota State. Edmunson extended his hitting streak to 10 games after batting .500 across four games last week for ORU.
He opened the week going 3-for-4 in a non-conference tilt at Central Arkansas before hitting safely in all three victories over the Jackrabbits. The Luther, Okla., native finished the sweep of SDSU going 5-for-12 (.417) with two doubles, a home run and six RBI.
Edmunson only had four RBI in ORU's first 24 games before knocking in 11 runs during his current seven-game RBI streak.
Meyer tossed five scoreless innings in Omaha's 6-5 victory over North Dakota State in the opening game of a Sunday doubleheader. The Malcolm, Neb., native did not allowed the only hit of his outing with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.
He finished with four strikeouts and earned his second win of Summit play, improving his overall record to 3-3 while lowering his ERA to 3.92 overall and 3.67 in league play. The Mavericks remained in second place with a doubleheader split against the Bison, pushing their record to 8-6 in Summit action.
