SIOUX FALL, S.D. – With the 2026 Summit League tennis regular season complete, league officials announced the annual all-league awards Thursday ahead of this weekend's championships.

On the men's side, Denver's Raffaello Papajcik extended the Pioneers' streak with a fourth straight Player of the Year honor, while North Dakota's Darrshan Suresh Kumar was named Newcomer of the Year, becoming the fourth UND men's athlete and second consecutive to earn the award.

Denver's Raffaello Papajcik earned Summit League Player of the Year honors after putting together a dominant campaign at the top of the lineup. The junior went a perfect 5-0 at No. 1 singles in league play, with four of those victories coming in straight sets, while also posting a 3-0 mark in doubles action where he dropped two games or fewer in each win. A three-time weekly honoree, Papajcik compiled a 20-7 overall singles record and a 13-8 doubles mark. He proved instrumental in Denver's success throughout the season, clinching five dual matches and securing three doubles points, while totaling seven straight-set singles victories.

North Dakota freshman Suresh Kumer earned Summit League Newcomer of the Year honors after a strong debut season despite entering the spring without a fall slate. He primarily competed at the No. 2 singles position, finishing 14-8 overall with a 3-2 mark in league play, including a narrow match tiebreak loss on the road at Denver. In doubles, Kumer formed a productive partnership with Christos Alex, going 9-2 mainly at the No. 2 spot, highlighted by wins over Air Force's No. 1 pair as well as victories against Nebraska and Montana.

For the first time since 2008, an Oral Roberts head coach was named Men's Tennis Coach of the Year. Interim head coach
Michael Scovotti earned the honor after posting a 2-3 league record following his midseason takeover. Scovotti also guided the Golden Eagles to their first Summit League postseason appearance since 2019.

On the women's side, Louise Wikander continued Denver's dominance by earning Player of the Year honors, becoming the program's third recipient in the last four years, while teammate Yunfei Cai was named Newcomer of the Year, marking the fifth straight Pioneer to receive the honor.

Wikander earned Player of the Year honors after a standout season at the top of the lineup for DU. A seven-time weekly award winner, Wikander went 5-1 at No. 1 singles in league play with all five victories coming in straight sets, while adding a 4-1 mark at No. 2 doubles. The 2025 NCAA DI Singles Championship qualifier and ITA Mountain Regional champion reached a career-high national ranking of No. 79 and compiled a 23-9 overall singles record alongside a 19-12 doubles mark during the 2025-26 campaign. The senior totaled 11 straight-set singles victories and played a key role in Denver's success, clinching three doubles points and one overall dual on the year.

Denver's Cai was named Summit League Newcomer of the Year after an impressive debut season in the lineup. The freshman went 5-0 in league singles play, earning wins at both No. 4 and No. 5, while also adding three doubles victories at No. 1. A Doubles Peak Team of the Week honoree, Cai finished 23-10 in singles and added 12 doubles wins during the 2025-26 season. The Guangzhou, China, native led the team with six dual-clinching victories, contributed to three doubles-point clinchers, and recorded 13 straight-set singles wins.

Wardlaw collected the Coach of the Year award for the fifth straight season after guiding Denver to its 12th consecutive Summit League regular season title and a perfect 6-0 conference mark. The Pioneers have also posted a flawless 71-0 record in Summit League play since joining the league.

Denver's Ryoma Mishiro and Papajcik headlined the 2026 Men's All-Summit League Team, both adding to multiple years of All-Summit recognition in their careers. The Pioneers once again dominated the postseason awards, with Theo Coats, Connor Robb-Wilcox, Samuel Rovai, and Aaron Beduhn joining Mishiro and Papajcik on the All-League list.

Illinois State was represented by Christian Capacci, Caden Scarlett, and Tomas Valencia, with Valencia earning his second All-Summit honor after a 2025 selection. North Dakota's Leo Galliano added another All-League nod, joined by first-time honoree Suresh Kumar on honorable mention. Drake's Samuel Melaga and Alan Gonzalez earned recognition, while Oral Roberts was represented by
Ricardo Filho and
Jack Berry. Omaha's Bryan Kuntz added another All-Summit honor, joined by Maddox Lundell and Liam Spiers on honorable mention.

On the women's side, Denver again led the way behind Zoe Adkins, Natalie Cinkova, Marley Lambert, and Wikander, all continuing or adding to multiple seasons of All-Summit recognition. Cai and Claudia Martinez de Velasco added to Denver's deep award total as well.

Omaha placed Khayli Buckels and Katelynn Kock on the All-Summit Team, while North Dakota's Emma Roberts and Ethel Li also earned recognition. St. Thomas was represented by Emilia Korseth and Caroline Lindahl, and South Dakota's Selena Bird was also honored. Honorable mention selections included Omaha's Nina Wiese and Shelby Smith, North Dakota's Jule Schulte and Alyssa Giupponi, Denver's Claudia Martinez de Velasco, and Kansas City's Alisa Reznik.
