TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts baseball team defeated Oklahoma State in its second of three midweek meetings this season, taking down the Cowboys 11-6 on Tuesday night at ONEOK Field.
The Golden Eagles were first on the board as
Cooper Kelly launched a home run 385 feet over the right field wall in the second inning.
ORU tacked on two more in the fourth with a
Cooper Combs two-run shot to left, driving in
Wailele Kane-Yates, who had been hit by a pitch.
A six-run fifth inning gave ORU a 9-0 advantage.
Keaton Campbell opened the scoring in the frame with an RBI double to score
Ethan Fender, who had singled.
Hudson Ellis followed with a single, and both runners advanced on a groundout.
Makani Tanaka singled into right field, advancing Ellis and scoring Campbell. Kane-Yates drew his second hit-by-pitch of the night to load the bases. Tanaka and Kane-Yates advanced while Ellis scored on a passed ball before
Cooper Combs drew a walk. Kelly and
Ethan Fender each drew bases-loaded walks, and Campbell was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the final three runs of the inning.
The Cowboys responded with five runs in the sixth, hitting two home runs– one solo and one three-run shot– along with an RBI single.
Martell Davis continued the scoring for the Golden Eagles in the seventh, singling to left field to score Combs, who had doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch.
Davis moved into scoring position as Campbell drew a walk before crossing the plate for the final ORU run on an Ellis single up the middle.
OSU added its final run in the eighth, scoring on a wild pitch.

Brenden Asher (1-3) earned the win after throwing 5.0 shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out three.
Luke Williams also stood out, tossing 1.0 inning and striking out three batters.
Zane Burns (2-1) was charged with the loss after allowing eight runs on six hits in 4.1 innings of work.
