TULSA, Okla. – Salt Lake City Stars and former ORU men's basketball guard, Max Abmas has been named the recipient of the 2025–26 NBA G League Sportsmanship Award, the league announced Friday. The Sportsmanship Award honors the player who best represents the ideals of character and conduct on and off the court.

Abmas was a four-year member of the Golden Eagles and last played for ORU during the 2022-23 season.

Abmas' recognition highlights his consistent professionalism, leadership and commitment to positively impacting those around him, both on and off the court.

A proven leader for the Stars throughout the season, Abmas served as a steady voice in the locker room and a reliable team captain. His performance on the floor was equally impactful, earning 2025 NBA G League Winter Showcase MVP honors while helping guide Salt Lake City to the Showcase championship in Orlando.

Off the court, Abmas distinguished himself through meaningful community engagement and a strong dedication to academics. Following games, he regularly spent time signing autographs and engaging with young fans, often encouraging them to take pride in their academic journeys and long-term goals.

"Watching Max earn the sportsmanship award is a true reflection of his leadership and selflessness," said general manager of the Stars Katie Benzan. "He put the team first, lifted his teammates up when needed, and led by example. How Max carried himself on and off the court made our team better."

Whether interacting with fans, supporting teammates or representing the organization in the community, Abmas demonstrated a genuine commitment to excellence and respect for the game.

His ability to connect with others and serve as a positive role model made him a stellar representative of the Salt Lake City Stars organization and a deserving recipient of the NBA G League Sportsmanship Award.
