GREELEY, Colorado – The Oral Roberts baseball team defeated Northern Colorado 10-3 on Saturday afternoon, wrapping up Summit League play with a series win over the Bears. The Golden Eagles finish the regular season 32-22 overall and 22-6 in the Summit League.
Oral Roberts opened the afternoon hot with a four-run first inning, starting with a
Makani Tanaka triple to score
Will Edmunson, who had singled. Tanaka was driven in on a
Wailele Kane-Yates single into left.
Martell Davis made it 4-0 with a shot over 400 feet to left center, his fourth home run of the season.
The Golden Eagles continued scoring in the second as Edmunson reached on a single and advanced on a passed ball before scoring on a Tanaka single. Tanaka advanced on a passed ball, then scored on a Kane-Yates double to give ORU a six-run advantage. Davis tallied his third RBI of the afternoon with a single to score Kane-Yates.
Both teams moved quickly through the third and fourth innings before each side scored in the fifth and sixth.
Cooper Combs, Davis, and
Cooper Kelly loaded the bases with singles in the fifth. Combs and Davis were driven in on a Mainord single to make it 9-0.
Northern Colorado got on the board in the bottom of the frame with a two-RBI double to left.
Kane-Yates answered with a solo shot to left, his third homer of the series.
The Bears capped the scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the inning.
ORU starter
Nathan Love (3-2) earned the win after 5.0 innings on the mound, striking out three batters.
Jake Storey (2-6) took the loss for UNC, allowing seven runs, five earned, on nine hits in 1.2 innings of work.
