#ORUMBB Adds Freshman Guard Jamal George to 2026-27 Roster

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts men's basketball program and Head Coach Kory Barnett have announced the addition of freshman guard Jamal George to the 2026-27 roster.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jamal George to the ORU family. Jamal is a big, physical combo guard with a veteran presence, toughness, and a winning mentality," said Coach Barnett. "He impacts the game by creating in ball screen actions, making others better, rebounding, defending, and playing with force. His experience and competitive edge elevate everyone around him, and his leadership will make an immediate impact on our program. Coming from a family with deep basketball roots, Jamal understands what it takes to win at a high level. We couldn't be more excited to have him as a Golden Eagle."

From Monthey, Switzerland, George is a skilled 6-5 combo guard. In the 2025-26 season, he played for the Pully Lausanne Foxes in the Swiss Basketball League. He played in 16 games for the Foxes, averaging 11.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game, reaching double-figures nine times.

George has also played on the Swiss youth and senior national teams. In 2022, George played seven games in the FIBA U20 Division B European Championship, averaging 9.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Most recently, he played in the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup European Pre-Qualifiers and Qualifiers.

He is the son of Deon George, who played for Saint Francis University from 1990-94. After his successful stint at Saint Francis, Deon George's basketball journey continued with the Canadian senior men's national team in the mid-1990s. He then embarked on a 12-year professional career overseas, primarily in Switzerland. His brother Kyshawn was drafted by the Washington Wizards in 2024 and attended the University of Miami. His mother's name is Sophie.
