TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts baseball team is set to take on Omaha for a three-game series starting Friday, May 8, at 6 p.m.

Last Time Out:
The Golden Eagles are coming off a midweek loss to #20 Cincinnati, falling 15-4 after a series sweep over St. Thomas. ORU defeated the Tommies 7-4, 18-14, and 4-2.
 
Cooper Combs opened the scoring against the Bearcats with a two-RBI double. Martell Davis followed with an RBI single, while Kole Dudding capped the evening with a solo shot in the ninth.
 
Wailele Kane-Yates led the way in the three-game series at St. Thomas, batting .462 with six hits, including a double and a home run. Makani Tanaka closely followed, going 6-for-15 at the plate with two triples and a home run. Will Edmunson led the team with eight RBI on the weekend, finishing 5-for-15 with a double, triple, and home run.
 
On the mound, the Golden Eagles were led by Sunday starter Jackson Farrell, who recorded four strikeouts. Farrell threw 5.0 hitless and scoreless innings to earn his third win of the season. Maddox Thornton earned saves on both Saturday and Sunday, throwing 3.0 innings over two appearances. Jack Hill improved to 5-0 on the season after entering in relief Friday, tossing 5.1 innings and allowing no runs on just two hits with three strikeouts.
 
Inside the Series:
Dating back 11 seasons, the Golden Eagles hold a 48-16 all-time series advantage over Omaha. ORU won both series last season, sweeping the Mavericks at home, and defeated Omaha, 8-1, in the postseason to advance to the 2025 Summit League Baseball Championship title game. The two teams last faced each other in April, with ORU taking the series 2-1 in Omaha.

Ace of Ks:
Right-hander Easton Teel has cemented his spot in ORU's pitching rotation, starting game one of every series this season. The sophomore has tallied 42 strikeouts in conference play with 20 strikeouts looking, both of which lead the league.
 
National Nods:
A pair of Golden Eagle pitchers earned national recognition Wednesday, May 7. Starting pitcher Easton Teel and reliever Jack Hill were named to D1 Baseball's Top Starting and Relief Pitchers lists, respectively. This marks Teel's second midseason recognition by the organization, while Hill earned his first appearance, coming in at No. 51 in the Week 12 relief pitcher rankings.
 
Career Leader:
Sophomore starter Easton Teel continues to make his mark nationally, as the right-hander's 3.00 career ERA ranks 19th in NCAA Division I, while his 2.00 walks per nine innings rank 26th.
 
Golden Eagle Defense:
ORU's defense ranks among the nation's best, as its .982 fielding percentage ranks 11th nationally. The Golden Eagles have also turned 33 double plays this season, the second-most in the league.
 
Scouting the Opponent:
Omaha is currently ranked second in the league with an 11-9 Summit League record and a 16-22 overall mark.
 
The Mavericks have a .278 team batting average, the best in the league, and have recorded 70 doubles, 31 home runs, and 16 triples, which rank 10th nationally. Jackson Trout leads the league with a .373 batting average, .620 slugging percentage, and 1.55 hits per game, and ranks second in doubles with 14. Tyler Bishop and Nick Riggs have helped the team rank fourth nationally with 0.42 triples per game, recording four and three triples on the season, respectively.
 
On the mound, Omaha holds a 6.65 team ERA, second in the league, while allowing 11.21 hits per nine innings. The Mavericks have a 1.70 strikeout-to-walk ratio and average 7.7 strikeouts and 4.50 walks per nine innings.
 
Projected Saturday starter Maddox Meyer ranks second in the league with a 3.83 ERA while leading the league and ranking 25th nationally with a 5.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The right-hander averages 1.33 walks allowed per nine innings, ranking 13th nationally. Senior reliever Nate Moquin leads the league with six saves on the season.
 
At the end of April, Omaha head coach Evan Porter announced his resignation following the conclusion of the season. Porter has built a 191-271-2 career record over 10 seasons with the Mavericks.
