Tulsa, Okla. --Stephanie Clark scored 16 points
and grabbed 12 rebounds, and three others scored in double figures
as Oral Roberts University defeated Panhandle State 82-51, Friday
at the Cooper Aerobics Center.
The win improves ORU to 4-2. Panhandle State drops to a 1-6.
Clark, a sophomore forward, collected her third double-double in
the season's first six games. She was 6-of-8 from the field and
4-of-7 from the line, and also had three steals and two blocks.
Kristin Atkinson, April Garcia and Cori Williston each scored 11
points for ORU. Garcia enjoyed her finest all-round game of the
season, adding eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and two
blocks to her point total.
Panhandle State was the aggressor early on, jumping out to an 11-0
lead. But ORU stormed back with a 24-0 run, taking a 24-11 lead on
Atkinson's layup with 8:52 left in the first half. ORU led 44-22 at
halftime.
ORU shot a season-high 44 percent for the game, and made 12
3-pointers. ORU's 82 points is also a season-high for the Golden
Eagles. ORU out-rebounded OPSU 51-31.
Starlet Brown led the Lady Aggies with 14 points.
The Golden Eagles next face Texas-San Antonio, 6 p.m., Sunday at
the Fun in the Sun Shootout in Cancun, Mexico.
