INDIANAPOLIS, IN�€"Kia Hayes made a pair of
three-pointers in overtime and IUPUI made all six free throw
attempts in the extra period as the Jaguars held off Oral Roberts
for a 67-62 victory in a Mid-Continent Conference game, Saturday at
IUPUI Gymnasium.
Jessica Boan (Overland
Park, Kan.) sent the game into overtime when her three-pointer tied
the game at 52-52 with 34 seconds left. IUPUI (4-13, 1-5) then
outscored ORU (10-8, 4-3) 15-10 in the extra period for the
win.
Playing without NCAA
assist leader Leah
Cannon (Adelaide, Australia), who injured her left ankle
in the final seconds of Monday's win over Centenary, ORU struggled
offensively in the first half shooting just 31.4 percent from the
field. The Golden Eagles trailed at one point 20-9 but closed the
half with 16-8 and trailed just 28-25 at halftime.
ORU trailed for much of
the game, taking its only lead in regulation when a pair of Maureen Obudho
(Mombassa, Kenya) free throws gave the Golden Eagles a 49-48 lead
with 6:20 to play.
Sarah Davidson (Newscastle,
Australia) led the Golden Eagles with 16 points, making 3-of-7 from
beyond the arc. Elisha
Turek (Council Bluffs, Iowa) recorded her sixth
double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, though the freshman
was 7-of-25 from the field. Alycia Seay (Big Cabin,
Okla.) chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.
Natalie Hendricks led
IUPUI with a career-high 23 points, and Jessica James added 16 for
the Jags.
The Golden Eagles
complete their two-game league road swing when they visit Oakland,
6 p.m., Monday.
