ROCHESTER, MI�€"Jayme Wilson scored 20 points to lead
Oakland to a 61-45 Mid-Continent Conference win over Oral Robets,
Monday at the Athletics Center O'Rena.
Playing their second
game without NCAA assist leader Leah Cannon (Adelaide,
Australia), the Golden Eagles (10-9, 4-4) looked out-of-sync
offensively throughout the game. Oakland (12-7, 5-3) limited ORU to
38.1 percent shooting for the game, and forced ORU into a
season-high 26 turnovers including 19 in the first half.
Cannon missed her
second straight game with a left ankle sprain. The Golden Eagles
were also without guards Cori Williston (Tulsa,
Okla.) and Buba
Kovacevic (Vrsac, Yugoslavia). Williston (stress fracture)
and Kovacevic (right knee) have each missed nine games, but both
are expected back within the next week.
Though ORU's offense
struggled, the Golden Eagles defense was sound. ORU limited Oakland
to 36.1 percent shooting for the game and forced 16 turnovers.
Elisha Turek (Council
Bluffs, Iowa) led ORU with 10 points and seven rebounds, her
11th consecutive double-figure scoring effort.
The Golden Eagles
return to action when they host Mid-Con leader UMKC, 7:05 p.m.,
Monday, February 2 at the Mabee Center.
