Cannon, the Mid-Con's assist leader, was a scoring force against the Thunderbirds, going 12-of-15 from the field including a career-high 6-of-7 from 3-point range. She also added four assists and three rebounds.

ORU (7-6, 1-1), which continues to play shorthanded with just nine healthy players, dominated the second half, out-scoring Southern Utah (9-2, 0-1) 46-32 and shooting 60 percent from the field while holding SUU to 25.8 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes.

Cannon helped ORU stay close in the first half, at one point scoring 12 straight points on four 3-pointers, finishing with 14 points as the Golden Eagles trailed 33-29 at the break.

The Golden Eagles broke the game open midway through the second half. Southern Utah went without a field goal for nearly six minutes as ORU went on 16-2 run, taking a 61-47 lead on an Elisha Turek (Council Bluffs, IA) layup with 5:00 to play.

ORU kept the Thunderbirds at arm's length for the game's remainder as SUU never got any closer than six points the rest of the way.

In support of Cannon's big night, the Golden Eagles received solid contributions from several players. Turek finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds, her second straight double-double and third of the season. Redshirt freshman Alycia Seay (Big Cabin, OK) had 11 points, and Katie Langford ( Arthurton, Australia) had seven points, seven assists, five rebounds and five steals.

Casey Cooke led Southern Utah with 15 points.

ORU returns to action when they host defending Mid-Con Tournament champion Valparaiso, 2:05 p.m., Saturday.
