Tulsa, Okla. €" Ori Zuzic and Kim Snow combined for
24 kills as Oral Roberts University kept a scrappy Centenary team
at arm's length en route to a 3-0 (30-22, 30-15, 30-18) victory in
Mid-Con action at the Aerobics Center Friday night.
ORU (15-11, 7-3) combined to hit .282 in the straight set victory,
including a blistering .567 in the decisive third game. Zuzic led
the team with 16 kills and was the only player on either squad to
register double-digits in that category. Snow aided in the win by
adding eight kills of her own on a mere 17 attempts for a hitting
percentage of .412.
After falling behind early in game one, the Golden Eagles picked up
their defensive intensity and limited the Ladies (6-23, 0-11) to a
lowly .025 attack percentage in the three games, including -.146 in
game two. Becky Dreher, ranked second in the nation in digs, paced
the ORU defense with 16 helpers.
Becky Brunelle chipped in with nine digs, bringing her career total
to 1,008. She is only the fifth player in school history to hit the
century mark for digs in a career.
The Golden Eagles will play three matches away from the Aerobics
Center next week, beginning with a Tuesday night affair with the
Arkansas Lady Razorbacks, who currently sit atop the SEC's Western
Division. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
