SHREVEPORT, La. �€" The Oral Roberts University
volleyball team extended its conference win streak to six matches
with a 3-0 (30-21, 30-10, 30-17) sweep of Centenary Saturday night
in Mid-Continent Conference action.
Outside hitter Ori Zuzic (Porec, Croatia)
registered a match-high 15 kills as ORU (15-8, 7-1) out-hit
Centenary (10-19, 0-8) .365 to -.010 on the night. Zuzic finished
her all-around effort with eight digs, four service aces, and a
pair of blocks.
Already leading 1-0 after game one, the Golden Eagles quickly put
the match out of reach by connecting on 12 of 19 attacks in game
two, as they hit an astounding .579 as a team en route to a 30-10
win and 2-0 game advantage.
The ORU defense shut the door on Centenary in game three, forcing
seven attack errors while limiting the Ladies to a .000 attack
percentage. The Golden Eagles took advantage with a 30-17 win to
wrap up the match.
As a team, ORU dug nearly half of the Centenary attacks (46 of 98)
on the night, as rightside hitter Jackie Oliveira
(Minas Gerais, Brazil) and libero Cris Alves (Sao
Caetano, Brazil) both paced the defense with 19 digs.
Middle blocker JoJo Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and
Oliveira each added nine kills for the Golden Eagles, while Souza
hit a match-high .444.
ORU will now have a week off before visiting UMKC next Friday,
October 28th, for a 7:00 p.m. match.
