scored in the 82nd minute to help earn Oral Roberts
University women�€™s soccer team a point in a 1-1
tie with conference opponent IUPUI. ORU moves to 1-6-3, 0-1-2 on
the year.
IUPUI scored first as Jen Scorniaenchi received a pass from
Sheri Levack and found the top of the net, just getting by the
outreached ORU goalkeeper, Shelbi Morrison
(Claremore, Okla.).
The Golden Eagles went into halftime trailing 1-0 but did out
shot the Jaguars 12-7 and had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
ORU put the pressure on in the second half as the squad fired
off 16 shots, six of them being saved by
IUPUI�€™s goalkeeper Jamie Farrell. Waller had
the most important shot of the night for the Golden Eagles. Melissa
Weidman (Tulsa, Okla.) crossed into the box from an ORU corner kick
and found Gentry Detter (Claremore, Okla.) who then fed it to
Waller in the middle of the crowd. Waller then striped her kick
past Farrell, tying the game for ORU.
Waller�€™s goal came at the 81:08 mark and the
teams ended regulation in a 1-1 deadlock.
Detter almost gave the Golden Eagles the win with a shot at the
3:11 mark in the first overtime but her shot caromed off the
post.
IUPUI�€™s Farrell had 12 saves on the night,
including two crucial saves in the sudden-death overtimes.
Morrison earned the tie for the Golden Eagles stopping seven of
the Jaguars shots.
Both teams combined for 61 shots but 21 of them were on
goal.
ORU returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Western
Illinois. First kick is scheduled at 12.
