Okla. �€" Elisha Turek (Council
Bluffs, Iowa) led four different players in double figures with 20
points and 10 rebounds as Oral Roberts University won its third
straight game with an 71-56 Mid-Continent Conference victory over
IUPUI, Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Center.
Turek�€™s double-double is her 48th of
her career and 11th of this season. The senior forward
finished 9-of-15 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the charity
stripe.
ORU
(13-7, 3-3 Mid-Con) did not score its first field goal until the
16:02 mark when Mariana Camargo (Blumenau, Brazil)
slashed her way past the Jaguars (7-12, 2-4 Mid-Con) defense for a
lay-up. Camargo finished the game with 12 points, going 4-of-7 from
the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
The
Golden Eagles broke open a tight game mid-way through the first
half when Rachel Watman (Sydney, Australia)
drained a 3-pointer and later made a short jumper during a 7-0 run
which turned a 16-13 lead to a 23-13 advantage with 6:38 left in
the half.
ORU
maintained that cushion forcing IUPUI into 15 turnovers in the
first half and the Golden Eagles went into halftime with a 37-27
lead. The Golden Eagles turned the Jaguars 15 turnovers into 14
points.
In the
first half, The Golden Eagles went 12-of-28 (43%) from the floor
and capitalized on free throws, going 10-of-13. IUPUI was held to a
38.5 shooting clip, making 10-of-26 field goals, and converted
7-of-11 from free throws.
Sarah Davidson (New South Wales, Australia)
drained a 3-pointer after the first media timeout of the second
half to open up a 15-point Golden Eagle lead at 15:09. Davidson
tied her season-high of 17 points on 4-of-9 shooting.
IUPUI
would not get closer than 13 points for the rest of the game as the
Golden Eagles continued to pressure the Jaguar offense into 12 more
turnovers in the second half of play.
Alycia Seay (Big Cabin, Okla.) recorded a
season-high eight rebounds while producing 7 points and combined
with Turek to give the home team 28 points in the paint. Watman has
now scored in double-figures in three straight games with 12
points.
IUPUI
was led by Alicia Booyer with 16 points and Jernisha Cann added 13
for the Jaguars.
The
Golden Eagles return to action on Monday hosting Oakland at 7:05
p.m.
