ORU Takes Down IUPUI, 71-56

TULSA, Okla. €" Elisha Turek (Council Bluffs, Iowa) led four different players in double figures with 20 points and 10 rebounds as Oral Roberts University won its third straight game with an 71-56 Mid-Continent Conference victory over IUPUI, Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Center.

Turek€™s double-double is her 48th of her career and 11th of this season. The senior forward finished 9-of-15 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the charity stripe.

ORU (13-7, 3-3 Mid-Con) did not score its first field goal until the 16:02 mark when Mariana Camargo (Blumenau, Brazil) slashed her way past the Jaguars (7-12, 2-4 Mid-Con) defense for a lay-up. Camargo finished the game with 12 points, going 4-of-7 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

The Golden Eagles broke open a tight game mid-way through the first half when Rachel Watman (Sydney, Australia) drained a 3-pointer and later made a short jumper during a 7-0 run which turned a 16-13 lead to a 23-13 advantage with 6:38 left in the half.

ORU maintained that cushion forcing IUPUI into 15 turnovers in the first half and the Golden Eagles went into halftime with a 37-27 lead. The Golden Eagles turned the Jaguars 15 turnovers into 14 points.

In the first half, The Golden Eagles went 12-of-28 (43%) from the floor and capitalized on free throws, going 10-of-13. IUPUI was held to a 38.5 shooting clip, making 10-of-26 field goals, and converted 7-of-11 from free throws.

Sarah Davidson (New South Wales, Australia) drained a 3-pointer after the first media timeout of the second half to open up a 15-point Golden Eagle lead at 15:09. Davidson tied her season-high of 17 points on 4-of-9 shooting.

IUPUI would not get closer than 13 points for the rest of the game as the Golden Eagles continued to pressure the Jaguar offense into 12 more turnovers in the second half of play.

Alycia Seay (Big Cabin, Okla.) recorded a season-high eight rebounds while producing 7 points and combined with Turek to give the home team 28 points in the paint. Watman has now scored in double-figures in three straight games with 12 points.

IUPUI was led by Alicia Booyer with 16 points and Jernisha Cann added 13 for the Jaguars.
