INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Lorena
Soto scored in the sixth minute, but IUPUI knotted the score in
the second-half as Oral Roberts University tied IUPUI 1-1 in
conference play, Friday night at Kuntz Stadium. With the tie, ORU
moves to 3-5-2 overall and 1-1-2 in league play, while IUPUI is now
1-9-3 overall and 0-3-1 in conference action.
Soto gave the Golden Eagles the early lead taking advantage of a
mistake by the IUPUI defense. The Asuncion, Paraguay native scored
her second goal of the year at the 5:52 mark.
Both teams had chances to score but both goalies held their ground
as ORU went into halftime with a 1-0 lead. The Golden Eagles held a
10-8 advantage in shots, while holding a 5-1 edge in shots
on-goal.
The Jaguars rallied though, tying the game in the 60th minute on a
goal by Katrina McCrory. McCrory lofted her shot from 25 yards out
over goalkeeper
Stef Gurley at the 59:26 mark for her first tally
of the year.
Again, ORU held the edge in shots, 10-6, in the second-half but
IUPUI's goalkeeper Jamie Farrell recorded five saves.

Manyan had chances to win the game for the Golden Eagles in the
overtime periods, but Farrell turned back their shots.a
Marissa Ranberger had five shots, two on-goal, to
lead to the Golden Eagle offensive attack. In all, ORU had 12 shots
on-goal compared to IUPUI's four.
ORU now travels to Fort Wayne, Ind. to play IPFW on Sunday at 1
p.m.
