TULSA --
Shakira Duncan scored in the 74th minute and Stef
Gurley recorded her seventh shutout of the season as Oral
Roberts University defeated Northeastern State 2-0 in
non-conference action on Tuesday night at the ORU Soccer
Complex.
With the win, ORU improves to 8-6-2 and move to 6-2-0 on their home
field, while NSU falls to 6-11-1 on the season.
Tara Lomas threaded a perfect ball through NSU's
defense to the streaking Duncan in the box. Duncan then one-touched
the ball over RiverHawks goalie Paticia Nardy for the match's only
goal at the 73:34 mark.
The goal was the freshman's league-leading 10th goal of the year
and fourth game-winner this year.
Nardy had an impressive outing for NSU in the box, steering away 11
shots while facing 23 shots from the Golden Eagles.
Gurley earned her league-leading seventh shutout by saving all
five shots Northeastern State sent her way. ORU out-shot NSU 23-7
in the match.
Nine Golden Eagles had at least two shots in the match with Lomas,
Lindsey Cook, and Lorena Sota all having three
shots.
ORU returns to conference play on Friday, hosting North Dakota
State at the ORU Soccer Complex at 7 p.m.
