scored 14 second-half points and Oral Roberts University went
10-for-10 from the free throw line in the final 3:08 in a 65-57 win
over Lamar, Saturday at Montagne Center.
Down by as many as 11 points in the first half, the Golden Eagles
(3-2) won back-to-back games for the first time this season. ORU
also picked up its first road win of the year.
Trailing 15-4 in the early going, ORU used a 10-0 run to get within

horn to put the Golden Eagles ahead 32-29 at the break.
King dominated the Cardinals (1-4) on both ends of the floor
throughout the first half before picking up his second foul with
3:07 left in the half and ORU leading 26-23. The 6-foot-10 senior
center scored 12 points, with seven rebounds, three blocks and two
steals in the game's first 20 minutes.
Lamar regrouped after halftime, opening the final 20 minutes with a
13-6 run, gaining a 42-38 advantage on a pair of free throws by
Dawkins with 14:08 left. But ORU kept the game within reach with
two ties and two lead changes over the next four-and-a-half minutes
before finally taking the lead for good.
With ORU down 49-48,
Adam Liberty (Oklahoma City, Okla.) drained
a 10-footer for a 50-49 lead. Jarvis followed with a 3-pointer from
the left corner to give ORU a 53-49 lead. A jumper by Vealy made it
55-49 with 4:53 left and the Golden Eagles had the game in
hand.
Jarvis led ORU in scoring with 16 points, adding three steals and
two assists. Vealy grabbed six rebounds and swatted four shots in
addition to his scoring output. Ehambe chipped in 11 points.

cardinal in double-digits.

percent for the game. The Golden Eagles shot 52.9 percent in the
second half, and 44.4 percent for the game.
