Hardin's 23 Points Leads ORU Past Central Arkansas, 73-54

CONWAY, Ark. - The Oral Roberts women's basketball team wrapped up the month of November with a perfect record (4-0) after defeating the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears (0-5) Saturday evening, 73-54.

Junior Jenny Hardin was a perfect 4-for-4 in the first half and finished the game with a season-high 23 points. Junior Rachel Watman and sophomore Janae Voelker each finished the game with 13 points, while freshman Whitney Wehmeyer scored 11. Voelker led ORU with eight rebounds, while Watman dished out a game-high eight assists.

The Golden Eagles finished the game with 15 steals to UCA's seven, while also dishing out 20 assists to the Sugar Bears nine.

ORU held UCA's leading scorer Kia Lee to only two points all night.

ORU opened up the game with an 8-3 advantage, extending the lead to 16-7 after an 8-2 run by the Golden Eagles. The Sugar Bears would fight back to close the gap to within four, but freshman Whitney Wehmeyer's back-to-back free throws would give ORU the 20-14 lead at the 11:40 mark. Wehmeyer would follow that up with her second three-pointer of the season to give ORU a seven-point lead, 23-16. The Golden Eagles would open their lead to 38-26 in the final minutes of the first half, their largest lead of the game and go into the locker room with a 39-28 advantage.

The Golden Eagles would come out strong in the second half, stretching their lead to 16 after a 9-4 run at the 16:23 mark and would further that to 17 at the 11:47 mark with a 55-38 advantage. Jenny Hardin would come out firing in the second half, scoring four-straight baskets to up the Golden Eagles lead to 61-40 with eight minutes left. Wehmeyer would hit her third trey of the game at the 6:42 mark to extend their lead to 64-44. ORU would move on to take the 73-54 win over UCA.

The Golden Eagles hit the road for the second-straight week when they travel to Houston, Texas Saturday, Dec. 1 to take on Texas Southern, followed by a Dec. 3 match-up with Boise State on Monday, Dec. 3.
