INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Oral Roberts University men's soccer
team out-shot IUPUI 19-8, but could not find the back of the net as
the Golden Eagles fell to the Jaguars 1-0 on Saturday
afternoon.
With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 6-10 overall and 2-3 in
conference action as IUPUI improves to 6-9-1 overall and 4-1-0 in
league play.
The Jaguars notched the only goal of the game in the 33rd minute
on a Vangel Nacovski goal. Nacovski netted his sixth goal of the
year off a free kick from 30-yards out after an ORU foul.
IUPUI out-shot the Golden Eagles 8-5 in the first-half, but ORU
held a 3-0 edge in corner kick opportunities.
The Golden Eagles attempted to tie the match in the second-half by
outshooting the Jaguars 14-0, but IUPUI's goalie David Barszczowski
was up to the challenge.
ORU had two scoring chances in the 57th minute, but shot attempts
by
Juan Chang and Jordan
Tatum were steered away by Barszczowksi.
Barszczowski made three saves in the second-half to preserve the
shutout for IUPUI.
Andrew Techanchuk had four saves in a losing
effort for the Golden Eagles.
In all, the Golden Eagles held a 19-8 advantage in shots and a 6-2
edge in corner kicks.
ORU closes out the regular season with a home tilt against Western
Illinois on Friday, November 9. Match time is slated to begin at 4
p.m.
