TULSA,
Okla. €" Janae Voelker (Newton, Kan.)
led four different players in double figures with a career-high 14
points as Oral Roberts University went on to defeat Southern Utah,
60-52, Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Center.
Voelker
also led the Golden Eagles (15-9, 5-5 Mid-Con) with 10 boards for
her second straight double-double. Rachel Watman
(Sydney, Australia) chipped in with 13 points while Elisha
Turek (Council Bluffs, Iowa) and Sarah
Davidson (New South Wales, Australia) each scored 12
points.
After a
quick basket by Voelker gave the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead,
SUU€™s Silvia Da Silva made a lay up and a
3-pointer to give SUU a 5-2 advantage. The Golden Eagles then
outscored the visitors 23-2 in the next 9:59.
Despite
being down 18 points early, Southern Utah (9-14, 5-4 Mid-Con) found
themselves down only seven, 26-19, after a 10-0 run.
The
Golden Eagles went into halftime with a 38-22 advantage after
3-pointers by Kelly Kindell (Schulter, Okla.) and
Davidson in the final minute.

range. The Golden Eagles scored 10 points off of nine SUU
turnovers.
In the
second half, Southern Utah closed within four, 42-38, with 10:30
remaining. The Thunderbirds made 4-of-6 from long range during that
stretch.
ORU did
not buckle as the Golden Eagles had a four-point possession to
extend their lead. Davidson grabbed an offensive rebound off a
missed 3-pointer by Watman and made a lay up despite being fouled
by SUU€™s Charma Piula. Davidson missed her free
throw attempt but Turek grabbed the rebound and drained a jumper
for an 8-point ORU lead.
The
Golden Eagles maintained a 7-12 point lead the remainder of the
game.
