TULSA,
Okla. �€" Katie Langford (Arthurton,
Australia) made a career-high six 3-pointers for 18 points and Oral
Roberts University shot 67 percent in the second half to defeat
Chicago State, 76-55, on Saturday afternoon at the Mabee
Center.
Langford was one of four Golden Eagles that posted double digits
and Jenny Hardin (Claremore, Okla.) scored 17
points on 7-of-11 shooting. The sophomore logged 26 minutes in her
first game back since Jan. 8.
After
Chicago State (9-19) scored the opening basket, ORU (17-9)
responded with a 10-0 run after 3-pointers by Langford and Rachel
Watman (Syndey, Australia) at the 17:15 mark. The eight point lead
was the largest lead for the Golden Eagles in the first half.
ORU
went into halftime with a 28-23 advantage. The Golden Eagles shot
41.7 percent (10-of-24) as Elisha Turek (Council
Bluffs, Iowa) and Langford posted 10 and 9 points respectively.
The
Golden Eagles broke open the game in the second half with a 16-2
run. During that stretch, ORU drained four 3-pointers and
Mariana Camargo (Blumenau, Brazil) and Turek made
lay-ups for a 58-37 lead with 8:40 remaining.
Chicago
State would not get closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
Janae Voelker (Newton, Kan.) posted 14 points and
six rebounds and Turek almost recorded a double-double scoring a
game-high 19 points and grabbing eight boards.
ORU
converted 10-of-19 shots from long range and shot 54.9 percent from
the floor for the game.
Ayesha
Neasley and Jasmin Dixon led Chicago State with 15 and 12 points
respectively.
ORU
returns to action on Monday night, entertaining Centenary in their
last home game of the season. Tip is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
