ORU Drops Conference Opener Against Oakland, 2-0

TULSA – The Oral Roberts University women's soccer team fell in their Summit League opener to Oakland by a score of 2-0 on Sunday at the ORU Soccer Complex. The Golden Eagles dropped to 3-6-1 overall, while Oakland improved to 2-7-2 and 1-0 in conference play on the season.

Oakland got on the board first at the 10:23 mark, as Kristi Evans converted on a penalty kick for her fourth score of the season.

With less than a minute remaining in the first half, Jessica Boyle scored on a dish from Carella DiMaggio to give the Golden Grizzlies the 2-0 halftime advantage. The ORU offense was held to no shots during the opening half.

Oakland finished the contest with 18 shots, while the Golden Eagles posted eight shots. Natalya Manyan (St. Andrew, Jamaica) led ORU with four shots and three on goal.

ORU returns to action next weekend with road contests against North Dakota State and South Dakota State.
