Pryor And Voelker Lead ORU Women's Hoops to 75-42 Victory Over Central Arkansas

TULSA, Okla. – In front of the school's second highest attended game in women's basketball history, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team defeated Central Arkansas, 75-42, Monday afternoon in the Mabee Center.

Today's win marks the third straight victory for the Golden Eagles who are now 3-1 overall, while UCA falls to 1-3 overall. ORU also leads UCA, 4-1, in the all-time series, as the Golden Eagles have won the past four straight meetings against the Sugar Bears.

Junior forward Janae Voelker (Newton, Kan.) led ORU with her seventh career double-double, as she scored 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Junior guard Amy Pryor also scored 16 points, while senior forward Monah Pegorari (Sao Paulo, Brazil) also grabbed 11 boards and was one point short of her first career double-double with nine points. Freshman guard Georgia Jones (Manchester, England) recorded an all-around day with 11 points, six assists, two rebounds, one block and one steal, while freshman forward Jordan Pyle (Mustang, Okla.) posted a career-high nine rebounds.

ORU started off a little slow, as UCA scored the first four points of the game in the opening minute before the Golden Eagles responded with seven unanswered points, which was sparked by Jones and Pyle. The Sugar Bears then responded with a 9-2 run of their own to take a 13-9 lead with 13:07 remaining in the first half. Senior Noelia Quintas (Galiza, Spain) scored four straight ORU points to tie up the game with 11:40 to play. After a 16-all tie, Pegorari, Pryor and Voelker led the offense through the rest of the half, each adding four points, as the Golden Eagles took a 33-25 lead heading into the half.

The trio of Pegorari, Pryor and Voelker continued to lead the offense through the opening six minutes of the second half to take the Golden Eagles lead up to 17 at, 48-31, with 14:17 left to play. Another four points from Voelker, would put ORU up 54-35, while five straight points from Jones would keep the lead at 19 at, 59-40, with 10:25 remaining. A three pointer from Jones gave ORU a 66-40 lead and the Golden Eagles would never lead by less than 25 through the rest of the game.

Pryor finished the day 5-of-10 from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range, while Voelker went 5-of-13 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line, while Jones went 3-of-6 from behind the arc.

ORU shot 44.4 percent (28-of-63) from the field, including 35.3 percent from the three-point line (6-of-17) and 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the free throw line.

Central Arkansas finished the game 18-of-58 from the field (31.0 percent), 2-of-9 from three-point range (22.2 percent) and 4-of-12 from the charity stripe (33.3 percent).

The Golden Eagles out-rebounded the Sugar Bears, 51-36, as ORU had 12 more assists (21-9) than UCA.

ORU heads out on the road, Wednesday, Nov. 26, to play at Missouri State at 7 p.m.
