ORU falls at Memphis, 4-3

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Oral Roberts University men's soccer team scored two late goals against Memphis on Sunday night, but couldn't pull any closer, dropping a 4-3 decision to fall to 0-2 on the season.

Thomas Shannon gave Memphis the early 1-0 lead at the 10:27 mark with a header off of a corner kick from Jason Brooks, while Brian Farrell pushed the lead to 2-0 just over a minute later.

ORU freshman Taylor Cluff (Plano, Texas) cut the lead in half with his first collegiate goal at the 35:39 mark. Cluff recorded the goal off of a rebounded shot from Jordan Tatum (Grapevine, Texas).

The Tigers would receive two more goals at the 60:04 and 64:51 marks from Thomas Shannon and Ryan Ruble to jump out to the 4-1 lead.

Michael Lind (Denver, Colo.) tallied his first goal of the season with a shot off of a rebound from Carlos Pinto (Santa Cruz, Bolivia), while Tatum added his second goal of the year at the 72:51 mark off of a double assist inside the box from Pinto and Juan Chang (Guatemala City, Guatemala).

ORU out-shot the Tigers by a 17:13 margin during the contest.

The Golden Eagles will return to the field on against Belmont at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the ORU Soccer Complex.
