Luper Scores 44 Points in Win over La Salle
Freshman
Kevi Luper set a Summit League single-game record with 44
points and pulled down 14 rebounds as ORU defeated La Salle by a
score of 76-55 on Nov. 20. Luper scored the second-most points in
ORU history behind Stacy William's 50-point effort in 1990. The 44
points were the most scored at ORU since Williams tallied 41 in
1989. Luper set a school record with 19 field goals on 25 attempts,
including three treys on six attempts. Luper also added four steals
and three assists in the record-setting performance. Trailing by
three points with 13 minutes remaining, Luper secured a three-point
play, and after a made field goal by La Salle, pulled off another

put the Golden Eagles ahead 21-16 early in the opening half.
Early and Often
The Golden Eagles' new up-tempo style offense has been evident
through the first two games this season, as ORU is averaging 84.7
points per contest. In the season opener against UT-Pan American,
the Golden Eagles put up 98 points, including 24 points off of
three-pointers. ORU tallied 80 points in a losing effort two days
later at No. 20 Kansas, including seven three-point field goals. In
ORU's last action against La Salle, the Golden Eagles scored 76
points, including a Summit League -record 44 points from Kevi
Luper. The freshman has led the ORU scoring attack by averaging
31.0 points through the first three games.
Janae Voelker tallied a
career-high 29 points at Kansas for an average of 16.3 points per
game, while

average of 9.3.
Jaci Bigham, a freshman from McAlester, Okla., is
third on the squad with 11.7 points per game and leads the team
with 5.3 assists per contest. If the Golden Eagles continue their
high-scoring ways this season, they could be on their way to
breaking the school record for points per game, which was 81.2, set
during the 1982-83 season. The 1982-83 squad is the only team in
ORU history to average more than 80 points per contest. The most
points an ORU team led by Jerry Finkbeiner has averaged is 68.0
