Records Fall as ORU Drops Southern Utah, 109-62

TULSA - Kevi Luper posted a double-double as the Oral Roberts University women's basketball team dominated Southern Utah by a score of 109-62 in their Summit League opener on Saturday at the Mabee Center.

The Golden Eagles (5-2, 1-0) posted their first-ever 100-point game against a Summit League opponent, while knocking down a school-record 17 3-pointers. The previous record of 15 treys set in 2006 was shattered at the 5:16 mark when Kelly Kindell (Schulter, Okla.) hit her first 3-pointer of the season. Kindell would knock down the team's 17th trey in the next possession.

The 17 3-pointers also tied a league record and surpassed the previous mark in conference action set by South Dakota State last season.

Luper paced the Golden Eagles with 30 points off 9-of-14 shooting from the field, 3-of-6 from 3-point range and 9-of-12 from the free-throw line, while snagging a school-record 12 steals. Luper broke the previous record of 10 at the 10:30 mark in the second half. Luper tied the conference record for steals in a league game, which has stood for 14 years.

Georgia Jones (Manchester, England) tallied a season-high 18 points and tied a career-high with six 3-pointers in seven attempts. Jones orchestrated ORU's first-half barrage, knocking down five of the team's 11 3-pointers in the opening frame.

Janae Voelker (Newton, Kan.) also posted 18 points in the win, tying a career-high with four treys in five attempts. The senior extended her double-figure scoring streak to 47 consecutive contests.

Jordan Pyle (Mustang, Okla.) added seven points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Savanna Buck (Pinehurst, Texas) tied a career high with nine points and Jaci Bigham (McAlester, Okla.) chipped in six points and handed out six assists.

Caitlyn Sears led Southern Utah (1-7, 0-1) with 17 points, while Chanel Thorley added 15 points and Challis Pascucci grabbed a team-high 10 boards.

The Golden Eagles forced 26 steals, which ranks second in Summit League history for conference games, and 38 turnovers.

ORU shot 51 percent (36-of-71) from the field, 59 percent (17-of-29) from 3-point range and 61 percent (20-of-33) from the charity stripe.

The Golden Eagles continue Summit League play against UMKC at 7:05 on Monday at the Mabee Center.
