KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Loyola-Chicago scored twice in the final 20
minutes to hand Oral Roberts University a 2-1 defeat at the UMKC
Invitational on Sunday.
The Golden Eagles (2-3-1) suffered their second straight defeat
despite jumping out to a 1-0 lead. After a scoreless first half,
ORU's
Vince Tizzone took a feed
from
Nikola Bogdanovic and scored
on a header in the 52nd minute.
But the lead didn't last long. Loyola (3-1-1) tied the game when
Mark Halma scored the first of his two goals in the 70th
minute.
Halma struck again when his header in the 82nd minute snuck past
ORU goalkeeper
Andrew Techanchuk for the
game-winner. Eric Gehrig assisted on both goals.
Techanchuk made five saves as Loyola ripped off 20 shots.
The Golden Eagles open Summit League play when they visit Oakland,
3 p.m., Friday.
