Box Score

ROCHESTER, Mich. -

The road to the Summit League Tournament started on Monday night for Oral Roberts University as they blasted Oakland University, 77-51, inside of the O'rena. Kevi Luper led all players with 27 points and a season-high eight rebounds.

ORU (19-9, 13-4 Summit League) also got huge performances from Bernadett Balla and Georgia Jones. The freshman scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while the senior hit four three-pointers and scored 14.

ORU shot 44.8% from the floor, while the Golden Grizzlies (11-14, 7-8 Summit League) shot just 28.8%.

Bethany Watterworth led Oakland with 20 points.

The road team got out of the gates early and left the Grizzlies in their dust. Luper sparked a 10-0 run with a three-pointer, and Balla capped it with a bucket at the 12:54 mark to give ORU a 19-4 lead.

Luper canned another three with 4:57 left in the half, establishing a 30-13 ORU lead. The Golden Eagles carried a 39-26 lead into the halftime break.

The Adair native was in the thick of things again as the Golden Eagles started the second period on a 9-1 spurt. Her layup with 15:49 on the clock made the score 48-27, giving ORU a 20-point lead for the first time.

The largest lead of the game came with 5:41 left. A Jaci Bigham three-pointer stretched the gap to 67-41, a 26-point bulge.

The 26-point lead would be realized again on the final basket of the game, a three-pointer from Jones to put the score at 77-51.

ORU dominated the glass, winning the rebounding margin, 40-36.

Bigham and Jones combined to do a masterful job at the point. The duo dished nine assists while turning the ball over just twice.

The win, combined with Saturday's 62-61 overtime triumph over IPFW, gives ORU their first two-game Summit League road trip sweep of the season.

ORU is now 22-13 all-time against Oakland.

Assured of no worse than second seed in the upcoming Summit League Tournament, the Golden Eagles will finish the 2011-12 regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25 against Southern Utah. Tipoff in Cedar City is scheduled for 6 pm CT.
