Bowen pitched a complete game shutout and the Golden Eagles
(9-7) beat Missouri State 1-0 in the opening game of a four game
series.
Bowen (3-1) recorded his second complete
game of the year, giving up just six hits with five strikeouts.
Nate
Goro was 1-3 and recorded the lone RBI for the Golden Eagles,
knocking in Kevin
Cho with a single in the fourth inning.
Missouri State (12-6) received a quality
start form Pierce Johnson (1-3) who pitched eight innings, allowing
four hits and one run with 12 strikeouts.
Brock Chaffin and Luke Voit both had
multiple hits, but could not help the Bears bring across any runs.
The only offensive threat of the night for the Bears came in the
ninth inning with runners on second and third with two outs, but
Bowen was able to get Koby Peebles to fly-out to the warning track
in left field and end the game.
Game two of the series is set for Friday
at 3 p.m. before resuming on Saturday in Springfield, Missouri.
