Box Score
Springfield, Mo. - Two homeruns by Jose
Trevino could not save Oral Roberts (9-10), and the Golden
Eagles fell 3-2 to Missouri State in Hammons Field.
Trevino hit his second and third homerun
of the season in the fifth and seventh inning, accounting for the
only runs on the day for ORU. Brandon
King was the only other Golden Eagle with a hit on the day.
Alex
Gonzalez (1-1) made his first start since February 24, pitching
7.1 innings with one earned run off five hits and three
strikeouts.
The Bears (15-6) took three out of four
from the Golden Eagles in the series thanks to a quality start from
Clay Murphy (3-1) who pitched 7.2 innings allowing two hits and two
runs with 10 strikeouts.
Luke Voit and Brock Chaffin once again
carried the bears offensively, each recording a hit and an RBI.
Missouri State took lead with an
RBI-double in the first inning to score Spiker Helms, and added to
that lead in the third when two runs scored off errors by Kevin
Cho and Cam
Schiller.
Trevino gave ORU life with a solo shot
over the leftfield wall to make it 3-1, and then put the Golden
Eagles within one with his second homerun to leftfield, but that
would be the last offensive threat for ORU as they remain winless
at Missouri State since 2007.
The Golden Eagles begin a three game
series with No.11 Cal-State Fullerton on Thursday, March 22 at 8
p.m.
