Ashley
Martin scored two goals in 30 seconds as the Golden Eagles
topped IUPUI 2-1 in a Summit League match at the Case Soccer
Complex on Sunday.
ORU snapped a five-match winless stretch to improve to 2-7-3
overall and 1-2-0 in the Summit League. The Jaguars dropped to
2-3-0 in league play and 4-9-3 overall.
The Golden Eagles held the possession through much of the first
50 minutes of the match, ultimately turning a Jaguar mistake into
the first goal as a hand ball was called in the penalty area.
Martin was called upon and slipped the PK into the net to put the
Golden Eagles up 1-0.
Quickly following the touch to restart play by the Jags, ORU
regained possession of the ball. Maria
Stordahl sent the ball to Martin just inside the left side of
the box, and Martin blasted a kick past the keeper to make it a 2-0
game.
In the 85th minute, following an ORU foul just
outside the box, Kalli Shepler-Tucker netted a free kick to cut the
lead to 2-1.
Turning Point
IUPUI was called for a hand ball inside the penalty area,
