ORU Runs Past IPFW in 84-56 win

TULSA, Okla. – A strong finish in the first half helped the Oral Roberts University women's basketball team run past IPFW Saturday afternoon, 84-56, in the regular season finale at the Mabee Center.

The Golden Eagles finish the regular season winning five of their last seven and earning the No. 3 seed in next week's Women's Basketball Summit League Championships. ORU will face the No. 6 seed North Dakota State Sunday, March 8 at 2:30 p.m.

Both teams went back and forth early in the first half before the Golden Eagles used a 13-0 run with 5:19 left before intermission. The Golden Eagles built on their 41-30 halftime lead with a 6-0 run to start the second half put ORU up by 15.

ORU controlled the paint outscoring IPFW, 46-14 in the paint led by Vicky McIntyre's 22 point 17 rebound effort. McIntyre was joined by fellow starters Jordan Doyle, Atoe' Jackson and Dorottya Balla in double figures as Doyle added a season-high 17 points.

Haley Seibert led all scorers with 23 points in the loss for IPFW.

The Turning Point
The Golden Eagles closed the first half on a 16-6 run to take a 41-30 lead into the locker room at halftime. ORU never looked back opening up a 20 point lead most of the second and leading by as many as 29 points in the win.

The Leaders
Oral Roberts: Vicky McIntyre had a team-high 22 points and 17 rebounds for her 23rd double-double of the season.Jordan Doyle added a season-high 17 points while going 4-of-5 from behind the three-point line. 
IPFW: Haley Seibert finished with 23 points and three assists to lead the Mastodons.

Inside the Box Score
- ORU made six three-pointers for the first time since Western Illinois on January 17. The Golden Eagles have made at least six three-pointers in a game seven times this season.
- The Golden Eagles outscored IPFW 46-14 in the paint. 
- ORU won the rebounding battle, 57-37, as it was just the third time this season the Golden Eagles won the rebounding edge by 20 or more.
- It was the fourth time ORU grabbed 50 or more rebounds this season and the first time in Summit League play.

- The Golden Eagles earn the No. 3 seed in next week's Summit League tournament after being picked to finish seventh in the Summit League preseason poll.
- ORU will face the No. 6 seed, North Dakota State in the Summit League tournament. The Golden Eagles and Bison split the regular season series with the home team winning each game.
Vicky McIntyre finishes the regular season with 23 double-doubles and an ORU and Summit League single-season record 449 rebounds. 
- McIntyre sits in second place with 131 blocks passing Brooke McAfee of IUPUI's record of 130 during the 2003-04 season. McAfee also holds the top spot in the Summit League record books with 137 from the 2005-06 season.
